Are you trying to improve your website user experience(UX) to get more traffic, rank higher on search engines, generate more revenue or delight your customers? All business owners and brands want their website to be able to speak to their target audience in a language which the audience understands and is simple. Brands also look to attract new visitors to their websites, retain & want users to keep coming back to their website to buy their product/services over their competitors.

If you are new to the world of user experience (UX) or want to find out more, Webexcept define UX as a process of designing your website/product which is easy to use & understand.

They also outline 7 key steps to consider when building your website/product if you want to get the UX right. Try answering the below 7 questions if you are trying to build a website or digital product which is built for users.

  • Valuable- Is your website/product providing value to the audience?
  • Usable- Is your website/product easy to use by new/existing audience?
  • Useful- Is your website/product providing useful relevant information/service?
  • Desirable- Is your website/product something your audience look forward to use and promote?
  • Accessible- Can users easily access your website/product, without facing any barriers?
  • Credible- Is your website/product providing content which is trustworthy?

These 7 criteria's are also called as the User Experience Honeycomb, introduced by Peter Morville

You might think these 7 criteria's are too many to get right for your website (UX), however if all these factors are considered and factored in during the build/maintenance of your website, then the final product will meet your business objectives and also meet your website visitor's expectation.

Out of these 7 criteria's usability and accessibility has seen an exponential growth in the recent years while building any digital product. According to usability.gov user experience is still a relatively new field which continues to grow and provide insights on human-computer (HCI) interactions.  User experience is about understanding user behaviour, their needs and motivation to use a product and how easily they can find the information. UX is also about anticipating what users might need and what barriers they may face while using your website. So in short's it all about the users, hence the name "User Experience" is perfect.

Now you might wonder how can your website present all the information & content in an aesthetic manner to help your users find information easily with minimum clicks? How you can make your website accessible to all your audiences including those with disabilities? And how your users can take certain actions on your website to meet your website goals or business objectives all while staying ahead of your competitors?

Tough questions right! And a lot to think about and consider to answer all of those questions.
